The seminar will explore how career development systems support people who are already in work, drawing on a new Gatsby-funded international study of provision across nine countries. While careers support is often concentrated on young people, students and those outside the labour market, many of the most significant career decisions are made while people are employed
The seminar will explore a range of international approaches to career development for working people, with attention to workplace, community and trade union provision, connections with education and training, and the growing use of digital and AI-supported guidance. The implications of these approaches for the future development of career support in England will also be considered.
